Digital Nomads in Spain: What’s Changing with the April 2026 Update

Spain has established itself as the preferred destination for international remote workers. However, the regulations are constantly evolving. Following the latest revision of the Immigration Regulations this past April, the International Remote Work Visa now includes new provisions—we’re here to help you understand them and offer our expertise at a very reasonable price.

Administrative Silence: Your Best Ally

This is the biggest advantage. If the authorities do not respond to your online application within 20 business days, residency is automatically granted. As of April 2026, the digital processes have been streamlined to ensure that this deadline is strictly enforced.

Passport to Long-Term Residency

The years spent on a digital nomad visa now count more clearly toward obtaining long-term residency (3 years) and, eventually, Spanish citizenship.

Express Family Reunification

It is now much easier to bring your family along right from the start. The paperwork for accompanying family members is processed at the same time as that for the principal applicant, provided that joint financial stability can be demonstrated.

In addition, if you’ve been in the country for a while working remotely, you can now qualify for legalization by completing digital skills training, which will regularize your status and allow you to transition to the official Digital Nomad visa (initially valid for 3 years, with the option to extend for another 3).

Are you a digital nomad, or do you want to become one?
