Update on the 2026  Spaniard Extraordinary Regularisation Process. How is it Going?

On 16 April 2026, Spain’s Extraordinary Regularisation Royal Decree came into force. Since then, demand has been extremely high, especially in cities such as Madrid and Málaga.

Time is running out: the deadline is 30 June 2026, and no extensions are expected.

Below, we explain how the process is going and the key points you need to know.

Appointments are almost impossible to get

Getting an in-person appointment through  the line 060 or the official website has become a major problem. Available slots disappear within minutes, leaving many people unsure about what to do next.

For this reason, the online route is now the fastest and safest way to make sure your application is submitted on time.

Don’t wait in line for your future. We’ll help you apply.

Good news: the process is more flexible now

The new rules include some positive changes that make the process easier:

Expired passports

You can officially submit your application even if your passport has expired.

Centralised processing

Applications are handled by UTEX, a special processing unit created to speed things up and avoid local delays.

Children

The financial requirements are applied more flexibly when the application includes dependent children.

Essential requirements

To avoid delays or rejection, your documents must be properly prepared. You must be able to show that:

  1. You have been living continuously in Spain for at least 5 months when you submit the application.
  2. You entered Spain or applied for asylum before 1 January 2026
  3. You have no criminal record in Spain or in your country of origin in the last 5 years.
